Tour of Szeged

Rebecca | March 18th, 2008

HA! Here is a story for the record books. I was having coffee with my friend Marlene from France, and a girl from Germany came over to our table and said, “Hello, sorry to intrude, but I heard you speaking in English. I was hoping you could tell me where the Szeged tourist information office is because I wanted to get a tour of the city with my parents.”

My response, “I’m sorry but I have no idea where the office is but….if you want a tour of the city, I’m free after lunch.”

So off I went attempting (key word: attempting) to give a tour of the city. (Keep in mind I’ve lived here for no more than 3 months and don’t speak the language)

My boss back at WVU for New Student Orientation would be so proud of me! I had such a great time giving tours again that I had to take a picture!

Becky,
once a tour guide, always a tour guide, regardless of the language and geography barriers. did you walk backwards while talking?
