Musikverein- Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra!

How could one visit Vienna and miss yet another item Vienna is famous for? Some may be aware of the world-renowned New Years concerts held in the “Großer Musikvereinssaal” or main concert hall. Televised world-wide, it has been a tradition in the Austrian capitol from a dark time in Vienna’s history. The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra (http://www.wienerphilharmoniker.at/) performs.

Unfortunately, I arrived too late this year to catch the New Years concert. So, myself and a few friends caught not the Wiener Philharmiker, but the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra that played in the same world-famous “Gold Hall”. I have to come back to take photos during the day, but typical of all Vienna halls, the exterior build quality of the Musikverein is exquisite! I do not think the Viennese would have it any other way, correct me if I am wrong, but I think the local residents have influence over the Musikverein. We paused to catch a quick Kodak moment (that is me, the man Himself and big D (Danielle)):

As a newcomer to classical music in general, this concert rocked my socks off! Sometimes, I would close my eyes, lean back in the chair, make an attempt to take in the harmonious balance of complexity that is a proper philharmonic orchestra. My feeble attempts at understanding the music are practically futile (ok, ok!), but seriously, it sounds so nice it nearly brings tears to my eyes!

As an appreciator of fine architecture, the interior of the grand hall in the Musikverein was something that had to be seen to be believed! I know I have ravved about the craftsmenship of buildings in Vienna before, so I won’t divulge into it again. Let the picture speak for itself:

It was nice to be surprised yet again by what Vienna has to offer. I look forward to going back to the Musikverein after Easter break! So, a few words of wisdom, live life as big as you can, because there is more to experience in life than a single lifetime can allow!
