Chocolate Heaven

Eric | February 9th, 2008 at 11:32 am

I love chocolate, always have, always will. As the title suggest, Vienna is saturated by it, everywhere I have gone here I see it! I can go into nearly ANY store and find it, you are surrounded by it, I am captivated by the varieties that are readily available. You can get in wafer form (Manner), milk form (Milka) and with any sort of creme or nut imaginable. In a town famous for it’s pastries (an entire blog devoted to the pastries will come later, I am still feeling them out), I would say chocolate for me is up there too.

I really think the Viennese (Vienna residents) have a sweet tooth! Even when I get off the underground subway there are food shops galore, all built into the stations, little cafes selling delicacies and treats. Funny thing is, the cafes and food shops always seem to be crowded! The culture towards fine treats is much different than in America. So far, it seems to me that the Viennese really have the whole food thing dialed.

My current favorite, Milka

Hi Eric,
i work with your dad and i live in Herndon. He turned me on to your blog the other day and i’ve been reading it ever since. I had to comment on the chocolate entry. Milka is my favorite too!! When i went to Madrid i bought several bars of it. I saw it in the states once. I was at a fancy candy shop in San Francisco. Glad to see that you are having a good time.

Hey, that was my favorite, too, when I was in Europe. I liked the kind with hazelnuts or any of the white chocolate.
