Watching the days putts on by...

Eric | February 6th, 2008 at 10:03 am

Hello everyone! Sorry for the long absence! I have been busy traveling and eating or doing everything I won?t be able to do in Wien (Vienna, aka Wien auf Deutsch henceforth). I had to make sure I ate my favorite burritos at Chipotle, sushi from anywhere that serves it and my parents home cooked meals :-).

These last few days I have been mostly puttsing around the homestead, taking it all in. In a few days, it will be a long while before I have an opportunity to see familiarity as wholesome as home. I am sure other people experience this before trips, but I find myself in everyday situations making images in my mind of what it will be like in Wien. Whether I am running, taking public transit (I will be carless!!) or shopping at the store and then having a brief conversation with the clerk in German, it will be crazy!

It is easy to underestimate the packing process. They say you should gather everything you want to take, then cut it in half! Well, I don?t care who ya are, thats difficult! I scrutinized my gear pretty heavily so far, and I like to think I am fairly slim packer. But, two pairs of skis, camping and climbing gear is inevitably going to take up alot of space.

Well, as the countdown continues to my departure on Wednesday night, I will keep everyone posted on whats hot and whats not in my world of travel anxiety.
