Travel worries
My sister and I are (how shall I put this?!) not worlds best planners when it comes to international travel. We magically think everything will work itself out and we always wait till the last minute to plan. For example, I just purchased my train ticket today and Sarah and I have yet to book a hostel in Milan or Monaco OR Bratislava. Ouch.
To save money (even the hostels in Milan and Monaco are expensive) I sent messages to about 10 couch surfers (www.couchsurfing.com) in hopes they will offer up a room for the night. Hopefully I’ll get some responses tomorrow and start scheduling a place to sleep.
Another scare is that recently the train workers in Hungary have went on strike and it looks like they’ll repeat the madness this week. If they protest on Wednesday then I’m out of luck for my trip to Austria and will be lucky to make my flight on Thursday. EEK!
WVU please cross your fingers for me.
ps- Any Mountaineers have connections in Milan or Monaco? If so, post a comment!

Thanks for the link to Couchsurfing.com. I will be studying abroad in Switzerland next semester through my school (Tiffin University). Couch surfing sounds like an interesting way to save some money. Have you ever done it before? Do you think it’s safe?
Hey Sara,
Greetings from E. Europe! Sorry it took me ages to respond to your post.
Couchsurfing is a great way to save money AND meet locals while traveling. I have participated in couchsurfing twice, once in Malaysia (check out my pictures here: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=32467656&id=25807013) and once in Vietnam.
I have felt safe both times, but always be careful when you travel.
I’m sure you’ll love Switzerland. Take loads of pictures! :)
Blessings,
Becky
ps- How is the weather in Ohio? Did you get any bad snow storms this year?
