Pros vs. Cons of studying abroad
|
February 15th, 2008
Sorry readers for using the blog to vent out my anger. I’m being a poor advocate for studying abroad.
Let me make this clear: through all the frustrations of trying to finish my schedule never once have I thought, I want to go back home.
Yes, when you study abroad you have hard times. You’ll miss home, you’ll miss your family, and you’ll miss aspects of your culture that you wish were engrained in the new culture you’re * living in, BUT your highlights of studying abroad trump the hard times.
Here are some of my highlights of last week:
- I attended my very first reggae concert—in Hungarian—with all four of my roommates. How cool is that?! I had no idea what the lyrics were but I could read “BORN TO BE HIGH” off the t-shirt of the guitar player. Ha! (Again, sorry WVU for being border line inappropriate) The entire night I did my horrid Jamaican accent, ya man!
- Singing at the top of my lungs to Italian music for ITALIAN NIGHT during our weekly exchange student dinners

- Eating european chocolate (Eric isn’t joking. It’s wonderful!)
- Coming home to find my roommates posting a wall hanging with pictures of the new family.
p=.
- Reading for fun. (Who gets to do that anymore these days?! That’s right, I DO!)
- And finally, heading to the local fruit market with my roommate (Did I mention how wonderful my roommates are?!)
So readers please BE INSPIRED TO GO OVERSEAS!
