Rathaus
As international students, we get a lot of unique opportunities. One of which was a dinner even with the Mayor of Vienna. It was a very dressy event and for those exchange students that had to travel far from home our attire was a little lack luster. We all got excited to go, but the Mayor ended up not being able to attend. He sent his regards along with a buffet of free food and drinks. The event was held in the Rathaus, (City Hall) in one of the beautiful halls.
Another event that is really popular in Austria is the Christkindlmarkts. These are usually small wooden hunts that are set up in various areas in Wien, which sell Christmas Items. This includes baked goods, trinkets, and of course different types of spiced punch. One of the large Christkindlmarkts is right in front of the Rathaus. I was able to attend the opening night of the Wiener Christkindlmarkt and watch the lighting of the tree.
Soli Deo Gloria,
Kellen
