Museen Speilen
Wien has over 90 Museums right in the heart of the city and I arrived at just the right time to go to the “Lange Nacht der Museen”. For 11 Euros, students could get a pass for all the museums. So from 6-1 am we traveled to Museums.
Albertina (with Van Gogh’s art work): Turns out you are not allowed to have backpacks in the Albertina. I missed that fact and was stopped by security after 30 minutes in the exhibit and was told that, “You are a problem and needed to come with me immediately.” I wasn’t a big fan of getting in trouble, especially when I can’t understand what people are saying to me. So I just followed and apologized a lot. Even more reason to learn more German. Our group outside the Albertina:
National Library: * Again yelled at for my camera’s flash. Really need to learn to see and read German signs. A lot of nice old books and beautiful art work though.
Random Duck on street with Alba:
Haus der Musik: It is a popular place with A LOT of people. Manners in Austria are VERY different than in the U.S. The personal bubbles are much smaller here in Austria. It also requires physical pain before an apology is needed for crunching the bubble.
National History Museum:* My favorite. There were so many animals, fossils and plants. It was cool to see all the different creations of the world and not just things people created.
Soli Deo Gloria,
Kellen
