Germany vs. USA

Johannes | October 10th, 2008 at 2:37 pm

Grüß euch!

Right now I am sitting in the lab and taking spectroscopical measurements. Unfortunately, there is magnificent fall weather outside. And these measurements are quite time consuming. I put a cuvette inside the measurement device and push the start-button. And then the mashine is working 20 minutes and I have to kill these 20 minutes. And after the first four 20-minute cycles all the homework assignments were done and so I started to surf around in the internet where I found some videos you should really take a look at, when you consider a visit or even a semester abroad in Germany or Austria.

These videos – called “Germany vs. USA” – are produced by two guys (Alex and Jim) who try to explain the difference between German and American culture – its great fun watching them. And most of these comparisons are valid for Austria as well (but definitely not all of them ;). Right now, they published videos covering among others following topics:

• Umlaute
• Beer
• Flags or Flaggen
• Wiener Schnitzel
• Recycling
• No Refills, No Ice, no Bill

Here is a link to an introduction video, and here is the link to the other postings: .
