Bio: Rachel Fedyk
Hi! My name is Rachel Fedyk. I am going to be a junior at WVU this coming Fall. My major is pre-vet.
I am from Illinois so a lot of people ask me how I ended up in West Virginia. The answer is, the swim team and the quality of my major attracted me. I have been swimming since I was 5 years old so the team was very important to me. I also used to be very into ballet, and participated in that for 13 years. So anyways, on my recruiting trip, I immediately fell in love with the campus and the people. The campus is pretty large, but for me it still had a small town feel. Growing up in a town that had more cows than people, I was very attracted to Morgantown.
I have always had a love for animals. I have always felt a need to help and care for them, so being a pre-vet major was an obvious choice for me. As a second grader I had decided I wanted to be a paleontologist (weird choice I know :-). I was very into dinosaurs). Then from about 5th grade on, I had my mind made up that I wanted to be a veterinarian, and it stuck. Beyond going to college, I’m not exactly sure where I will end up, but hopefully I enjoy whatever I’m doing.
While abroad I will be interning at the London Zoo. I am not sure about the specifics of my internship yet. I do know that I’ll be living in Chelsea in apartments set up how Pierpont is. I will be living there from June 29-July 29, 2007. Check out all of my posts!
