Bio: Alex Ebsary

Alex Ebsary My name is Alex Ebsary and I’m a senior Physics major from Buffalo, NY. I enjoy traveling, skiing, learning about languages and writing systems, reading, shooting the breeze with friends, exploring the unknown, and Wikipedia.

I have two younger brothers, Taylor, 20, a Chemistry major and lacrosse player at Loyola College of Maryland, and Kurt, 18, a high school senior and purveyor of funky beats and silky smooth bass lines, both of whom I hope to further infect with my wanderlust spirit. My parents Jeff and Olivia are more than supportive of my wanderings, and I can’t thank them enough for it.

I love traveling and although I got a healthy dose of it during my year of study abroad in Istanbul in 2006 and 2007. This summer I will return to Istanbul for two months to learn Turkish once and for all, compliments of the U.S. State Department’s Critical Language Scholarship. Needless to say I’m thrilled to have the chance to return to the city I loved so much.

At present I have traveled to Morocco, Spain, France, England, Switzerland, Germany, The Netherlands, Italy, Hungary, Bosnia, Montenegro, Albania, Serbia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Turkey, China, Canada, and Mexico…and I hope to be dramatically improving that list in the coming years.

If you have any questions about me, my blog, adventures, or Turkey and Istanbul in general, please leave a comment or send me an email.
